May 19, 2004: Movie Hopping

What is there to do on a Wednesday Night? Well there is balancing my checkbook, brushing my hair a hundred strokes, or maybe go Movie Hopping. For those of you who don’t know what that is, Movie Hopping is basically paying for one movie (I prefer the bargain price) and basically seeing every new release ever made. I saw two great films.

Troy
In 1193 B.C., Prince Paris (Bloom) of Troy stole the beautiful Greek woman, Helen (Kruger), away from her husband, Menelaus, the king of Sparta, setting the two nations at war with each other, as the Greeks began a bloody siege of Troy using their entire armada, led by Achilles (Pitt), that lasted over a decade. Well in the movie it lasted twelve days but the movie was beautifully shot with great fighting scenes. Did I forget to mention all the hot guys! Hello nurse! I know every girl in the theater was falling for Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom but my attention was drawn toward Eric Bana. He was so delicious that I wanted to pour chocolate all over his body and eat him whole. I also thought it was a pretty good film but worth only five dollars for viewing.

Shrek 2
Help! Get me off the floor! This movie is rolling on the floor hilarious. Picking up exactly where the first movie left off, this movie takes us to the kingdom of Far, Far Away as Shrek and Fiona return to her homeland to tell her parents (Cleese, Andrews) the good news. Not everyone is happy to find her married to an ogre, with the most irate in this group being Prince Charming (Everett), who was supposed to be the one who lifted Fiona's curse. We're also introduced to the mysterious Fairy Godmother (Saunders), and a bar called the Poison Apple, where the villains of the fairy tale world hang out, including the great ogre-slayer, Puss-in-Boots (Banderas). Who by the way was so adorable! Ironically my friend Nathan was wearing cowboy boots while watching the movie. ”Nathan in Boots”. The movie is great for all and well worth the eight dollars. Don’t forget to bring a extra pair of underpants, you may never know you might need them.
